When the door had shut behind Jim, Sam staggered over to it and locked him out, then back over to the bed where he passed out.

Sam woke up enough a few hours later to know he wouldn't make it to work that day. Not wanting to arouse suspicion, he sent a note to the Doctor.

They room must have been a suicide watch cell in Medbay. Nothing else would explain the cramped space and spartan furnishings. Sam relaxed on the bed trying to sleep but finding none.
